Madonna will perform next month in Tel Aviv at the Eurovision song contest finals and Roger Waters is not happy about that.
Penning an opinion piece for The Guardian published on Wednesday, the former Pink Floyd founding bassist is asking the pop icon to reconsider the gig as well as the show’s contestants.
Waters, an outspoken critic of Israel’s government, likens all performances in the country, including Madonna’s, to crossing a picket line.
Addressing charges of anti-Semitism, Waters defends, writing, “I should point out that I support the fight for human rights for all oppressed peoples everywhere. The religion of the oppressor is neither here nor there.”
Should Waters insert his opinion every time someone plays Israel? Is he getting a bad rap for being critical?
