When Guns N’ Roses hit the road on their massive “Not In This Lifetime” reunion tour, there was at least one member of the band’s original lineup noticeably missing. But it wasn’t for a lack of trying.
Speaking to Classic Rock magazine, Duff McKagan says they attempted to get guitarist Izzy Stradlin to join them, admitting, “I don’t know what the actual truth is. We definitely wanted him to do it.”
The bassist even reveals, “We had amps for him, ready to go. The first month of rehearsal went by… nothing. The second month of rehearsal came by, and we’re talking to him: ‘We’re getting close, Iz.'”
Last year, Stradlin told The Wall Street Journal, “My non-participation was simply not being able to reach a happy middle ground through the negotiation process.”
Do you think the absence of Stradlin hurt the tour? Could it have been even bigger with him?
