When Dusty Hill died last summer, ZZ Top kept going with longtime guitar tech Ellwood Francis stepping in to fill the hole in the band’s lineup, and now they’ve announced they’ll be recording new music with Francis.
Reportedly, Hill told bandmates Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard before he died to continue with Francis in his place, and now Gibbons has announced that they’re doing exactly that, something Gibbons calls “an interesting excursion into the unknown.”
Before new music comes out, the band is releasing a new live album, “Raw,” recording at the time of their 2019 documentary. The new album is set to be released on July 8th.
