The key to treating dementia? Take two Beatles records and call me in the morning.
Researchers are using the music of the Beatles – and other artists – to determine how listening to music can impact memory in older adults.
The team would scan people’s brains while they listened to a one-hour playlist of their favorite songs, measuring neurological response.
They found that music can help open up parts of the brain that get cut off in elderly people – particularly those with dementia.
