No one saw this performance coming. At the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, the crowd of 30k people heard the intro to Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” play, and when “I am Iron Man” was said, it was by Ozzy Osbourne himself from backstage.
He made his way out and was joined onstage by Tommy Iommi, bassist Adam Wakeman, and drummer Tommy Clufetos for the closest thing to a Sabbath reunion we’ve seen.
The group launched into a strong rendition of “Paranoid” and brought the fans to their feet. It’s the first live performance for Ozzy since November 2019, and it was obvious the Prince of Darkness was having the time of his life being back onstage.
