Rocker John Mellencamp will be honored at Indiana University in October.
A statue of Mellencamp will be unveiled during the university’s Homecoming weekend.
Mellencamp is expected to be at the ceremonial unveiling of the statue on October 18.
Along with the statue, an ongoing exhibit of Mellencamp’s artwork will be on display at the IU Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art.
The exhibit, which features artwork created from 1991 to present, will be on display through December 15.
“We are excited to welcome John to our campus once again as we commemorate his invaluable contributions to music, art and our university,” IU President Pamela Whitten said in a statement. “The arts have long been a point of pride at IU, and we look forward to honoring a musician and artist who has generously given back to his fellow Hoosiers and greatly impacted American culture.”
