A moment during a junior varsity football game in Berrien County, Michigan has left a 15-year-old player with two fractured vertebrae—and the community demanding answers.
On Thursday evening, Lakeshore High School faced off against Kalamazoo Central in what was expected to be a routine JV matchup. But in the third quarter, Lakeshore player Colton Mims was blocked to the ground by a much larger opponent wearing No. 73. What happened next was captured on video by Colton’s mother, Courtney Mims, and has since gone viral: the Kalamazoo player jumped back onto Colton with full force, belly flopping on the already downed teen.
