MTV has officially turned off the lights on its music-only channels, closing a pivotal chapter that began with the inaugural airing of “Video Killed the Radio Star” back in 1981. As of December 31, 2025, dedicated 24/7 music channels such as MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live went dark across multiple territories, including the U.K., Europe, Australia, Brazil, and more.
