Bruce Springsteen has used his microphone often to shine a spotlight on what he feels is wrong politically in our country. Two weeks ago he dedicated a performance of “Promised Land” to Renee Good, the protestor that was shot and killed by federal agents in Minneapolis.

Perhaps feeling that a brief speech wasn’t enough, and with the death of protestor Alex Pretti just days later, Springsteen went further, writing and recording a protest song that name-checks both Good and Pretti. “Streets Of Minneapolis” came out yesterday, and not only mentions the two dead protestors, but also names and points a finger at President Donald Trump, US Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller and US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. “I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis,” Springsteen said on social media.
