Mount Bohemia, a popular ski resort in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, has canceled two major elements of its annual Mardi Gras Madness celebration after receiving an email threatening legal action. The resort announced it would no longer offer free skiing for women or host its women‑only beads contest, both originally planned for the March 7 event.
Mount Bohemia stated that, while it believed it could ultimately prevail in court, the potential for costly and time‑consuming litigation led leadership to pull the promotions on the advice of legal counsel.
