Good news for Michigan drivers: the average price for regular unleaded gas has dropped below $4 a gallon for the first time since April.
According to AAA, the statewide average is now $3.96 per gallon, down 25 cents from a month ago. While prices are still about 80 cents higher than this time last year, the recent decrease offers some welcome relief for summer road trips and daily commutes.
AAA says Michigan motorists can expect to pay about $59 to fill a 15-gallon tank. The most expensive gas prices are currently in Ann Arbor, Metro Detroit, and Lansing, while some of the lowest prices can be found in Marquette, Traverse City, and Flint.
