Michigan’s week-long battle with wildfire smoke this summer came with an even bigger price tag than first thought.
A new analysis from Anderson Economic Group shows Michigan lost an estimated $6.69 billion during a stretch of heavy Canadian wildfire smoke from July 14-20. That’s up from an earlier estimate of more than $4 billion. The report says Michigan suffered the largest economic impact relative to its state economy among the 10 states studied.
