A longtime part of Michigan’s media landscape is coming to an end. MLive Media Group announced it will stop printing all of its newspapers by December 2026, marking a full transition to digital publishing. The final printed editions, including The Grand Rapids Press, Kalamazoo Gazette, and Muskegon Chronicle, will be delivered on Sunday, Dec. 6.
The company says the move reflects changing reader habits, noting that more than 99% of its audience already consumes news online and that digital subscribers now outnumber print subscribers. MLive says its newsroom staff of roughly 100 journalists will remain in place, with coverage continuing through its online platforms.
