The long-running war of words between former Van Halen bandmates Alex Van Halen and Sammy Hagar just got another chapter.

In a recent interview with Roadie Crew magazine, Alex Van Halen was asked about autobiographies written by Van Halen frontmen David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. While Alex had kind words for Roth’s book, Crazy From the Heart, he didn’t hold back when the conversation turned to Hagar’s 2011 memoir, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock. Alex reportedly dismissed the book and bluntly called Hagar a “complete idiot.”
The latest jab is just another shot in a feud that’s been simmering for years. Much of the tension stems from Hagar’s memoir, which included stories about Eddie Van Halen’s struggles with alcoholism and life behind the scenes in the band.
