A dramatic tanker truck crash shut down a major stretch of US-131 in downtown Grand Rapids early Saturday morning, sending thick black smoke into the sky and halting traffic in both directions.

According to the Grand Rapids Police Department, the tanker was involved in a single-vehicle crash on southbound US-131 near the I-196 interchange just after 8 a.m. The vehicle quickly caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames, prompting an emergency response from multiple agencies. Despite the intense blaze, authorities confirmed no injuries were reported.
