A dangerous late-night chase on US-131 came to an end after Kent County deputies arrested a driver who allegedly reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour while fleeing police.
According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began on the night of March 28 when deputies responded to reports of reckless driving and burnouts in a private parking lot near 100th Street and US-131 in Byron Township. When law enforcement arrived, several vehicles took off, including a white Dodge Charger that quickly sped away onto the highway.
A Michigan State Police helicopter was then deployed and tracked the vehicle from the air as it continued north, eventually exiting the highway in Plainfield Township.
