It’s hard to believe that there’s been two black bear sightings within the last week or so in West Michigan. One in Cascade Township and one in Georgetown Township.
WOOD TV had William Miller, associate professor of biology at Calvin University, on to discuss the matter. Long story short, it’s because mother bears are booting out young males from dens.
He also mentioned what you should do if you encounter one of these bears.
Seems like common sense, right? Think again. There’s plenty of videos on the internet where people do the opposite and end up regretting it.
