A landmark in downtown Grand Rapids is now falling apart.
Photos of The Cottage Bar have been circulating the internet because of it’s current state. Foodie GR posted photos showing letters falling off the building, windows broken, and just the overall terrible shape that it’s in.
13 On Your Side even did a feature on it.
It’s easier to understand how something like this can happen to a place even as historic as The Cottage Bar when you dig a little deeper. It’s been sold, under new ownership, open, temporarily closed due to an employee-owner dispute, and everything in between all within the last 5-6 years.
This news sucks. We used to host and partake in a lot of events at this place, so it hits closer to home. Hopefully someone can restore it and make it a place worth going to again. Whoever does it has a lot of work to do.
