Look, we love David Lee Roth. This isn’t meant to be an attack of his character or anything, but this video is downright concerning.

Someone posted footage from his performance at Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan over the weekend. It’s not getting great feed back to say the least.
One person in the comments said, “My partner asked if I wanted to go see him in concert and I just don’t want that to be my memory of DLR on stage.”
Another comment says, “As a Van Halen fan – this is painful to watch.”
There’s something to be said about knowing when to walk away. For example, in the world of sports, hall of fame quarterback Peyton Manning knew when it was over.
He won a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos during his final season where his level of play had significantly dropped off. But, he won the ultimate prize, and probably knew it was never going to get better than that.
Tom Brady is another good example of that. He left the game before people remembered him for the wrong reasons.
People are going to start remembering David Lee Roth for stuff like this. David, we love the great memories you’ve given us from your time in Van Halen. But respectfully, it’s time to hang it up.
Play golf. Watch birds. Paint. Fish. There’s plenty of things to do after you’ve had the career that you’ve had.
