If the smoky skies have you reconsidering your camping plans this weekend, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is offering some relief. Due to hazardous air quality caused by wildfire smoke drifting into Michigan from Canada, the DNR is waiving cancellation fees for camping and lodging reservations at state parks.
The fee waiver applies to overnight reservations scheduled between July 15 and July 19. Campers who choose to cancel can do so online, and refunds will be processed automatically, although officials warn that high demand could cause delays.
