Grand Rapids leaders are taking a closer look at the city’s use of Flock Safety automated license plate reader cameras. The topic was discussed Tuesday during a Public Safety Committee meeting, where both the Grand Rapids Police Department and Flock Safety presented information about how the technology is being used.
Supporters say the cameras have helped investigators solve crimes, locate stolen vehicles, and generate leads in serious cases. However, privacy advocates continue to raise concerns about surveillance and potential misuse of data.
