An Oakland Athletics player is taking legal action against the Detroit Tigers following an injury suffered at Comerica Park earlier this season.
According to a lawsuit filed in Wayne County Circuit Court, Athletics infielder/outfielder Zack Gelof claims he suffered a serious knee injury on July 9 while attempting a sliding catch in foul territory during a game against the Tigers. Gelof alleges he struck exposed metal fencing along the outfield wall, causing a deep laceration to his right knee and forcing him to miss approximately 30 days.
The Tigers have not publicly commented on the lawsuit.
