According to a report from FOX 17, fire crews with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and several partner agencies are working to contain two wildfires burning in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula as dry conditions continue to increase fire danger across the region.
According to the DNR, the larger of the two fires, known as the Ridge Fire, has grown to approximately 256 acres and is located about 10 miles northwest of Marquette. Officials say the fire is burning in rugged terrain, making suppression efforts especially challenging.
Residents along North Basin Drive have been advised to remain in “Set” status under the Ready, Set, Go wildfire preparedness system, meaning they should be prepared to evacuate quickly if conditions worsen.
