Bobby Whitlock, the singer/keyboardist who helped found Derek & The Dominos with Eric Clapton, has died.
Whitlock played with some of rock’s biggest names, including Booker T. & The M.G.’s and Delaney & Bonnie, and is a footnote in music history as the first white act signed to legendary Stax records.
He also appeared on such classic albums as the Rolling Stones’ “Exile on Main Street” (uncredited) and George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass.” His manager confirmed that Whitlock died Sunday morning after a brief bout with cancer.
